Initial Planning Ideas
When creating an opening title sequence it is vital that you have a plan beforehand so that you have some sort of guideline in order to complete your sequence. We sat as a group and discussed different ideas and adding our own input into when we came up with an overall genre of out horror, this enabled us to create a name and a storyboard. The reason why this must be done is because it stops the whole group from going off track and allows a clear idea to be developed as well as staying on the same page as each other.
This was an initial planning ideas; we followed the guidelines of this however when filming we realised some of the shots/action didn't work out. Due to the timing of our filming we was not able to have proper access to the CCTV room and therefore we had to remove this scene in order to complete our OTS. We also did not include Tyler looking at photos of Shannon over facebook, instead he does it on his phone, this was easier as we was able to use an over the shoulder shot in order to see this scene. We also changed the way that Shannon ended up dying, at the beginning we was going to stick with the original plan of poisoning her perfume to be able to knock her out and then drag her to the sports hall where she will be tied to her a chair with a rope and then be slashed by the neck. However, when filming our OTS we wanted to add tension and a change of scene instead of the school, therefore we changed the killing scene to Shannon being poisoned and put into a boot where she would end up at the top of the car park being chucked over the side. This added a more violent action within the OTS to draw our audiences attention.
Once we had completed our opening title sequence we needed to add sound. Sound is an important aspect within the opening title sequence as it can create tension or make it feel boring which will affect how the audience reacts to it. At first we used a continuous heart beat sound which after a while got boring once we had watched it over again, here is our initial OTS before we changed our sound...
However once we discussed the sound as a group we decided to change the sound to different things which would enhance the concentration of our audience, this is out final OTS, we have put this on facebook as well so that it allows us to get feedback so that we are able to improve our work and maybe sound...
