Before performing our interview, we had to write a series of questions to ask the respondents. We asked a total of 10 questions to 4 different people of various ages. Below is are the questions we asked;
When choosing who to interview for our horror questionnaire we wanted to get a range of people of all different ages so that there was a division of opinions. Therefore, we used a male from year 11 who has experience of watching a horror. He said that his worst fear was of snakes therefore this allows us to have a list of fears in which people think are scary. By interviewing a male we were able to contrast the different fears between both genders. It also shown us that boys get scared too - even over the little things. this interview helped us as it gave us different aspects which we can include in our own horror.
We used a spotlight on our sixth-former as it created an atmosphere for our audience to see, we also used the rope around his neck so that it created a sinister approach and displayed to the audience the importance of our horror showing that we passionate about our props to create the ultimate effect for our audience. The contrast between the Year 11 and the sixth-former is important as one of them indicated they watch torture horror films and the other said paranormal horror which are both very different.
From this interview, I am able to make a clear link between a year 7 and a sixth-former due to the fact that they both like paranormal sub genre. I used the younger generation in my interview because they base their horror films on the bbfc rating of 12+ which does not contain extreme violence therefore it is interesting to see what they like and dislike at a young age. This is a good comparison due to the jump of violence between a 12 rating and a 15 rating. This also shows that there isn't a dramatic difference in fears, but also sub genres so we will be able to appeal to all ages.
When performing this interview, we used a hostile approach. We used a teacher who is 30+ tied up in rope and her face blurred to remain secret. This is useful for our horror film due to the techniques which we have used to gain this effect. Our respondent reacted to why she liked the horror film because of the character therefore this proves to us that because not only watch the horror because of the action and intensity but also the actors within the sequence - this can draw other audiences due to the reputation of a well-known character. This interview is a good contrast as no one would think about an action film representing a horror unlike other interviews where they have said torture or paranormal.
