In order to complete our opening title sequence it was vital that we done the research beforehand. By doing this it enabled us to have a judgement on how effective our OTS would be because people have done it before in past reference. This was beneficial for our group as it allowed us to take ideas from the clips shown and create our own version.
'When A Stranger Calls' this moving trailer focuses on a babysitter who gets unknown phone calls from the house she is in asking her random questions which the killer wouldn't know unless they are watching or in the house with her. Within the trailer it uses key words such as 'isolated' 'trapped' and 'escape' and this indicates that the victim will be in danger and most probably die within the opening sequence. We took this extract and used the phone idea as our main prop as it creates mystery and keeps the killer unknown until the very end.
'Split' is a newly introduced 2017 film which includes a man with 23 different personalities who abducts 3 teenage girls. The way he does this is by spraying a substance into their faces which makes them pass out. We took this idea and turn it into our own version by using our killer (Tyler) to poison Shannon's perfume to make her pass out and end up in car boot on her way to a car park where she will be killed. This work well as it helped us link how she changed her location from the school to the car park.
In order for Shannon to be killed we came up with the idea of being thrown off a car park level however, we needed to see how this would look and work out for us therefore we needed to see a film which included this. 'Get Carter' is a older film however uses the aspects we needed in order to create the tension of our scene.
