Metacritic is a website which reviews music albums, games, TV shows, DVD's and books. For each product, a score out of 100 is given, this depends of every review they can possible find within the internet and is then given a total average. Metacritic uses the green, amber and red theory. This is where each film is given an overall colour code of critics recommendation which allows the audience to know if the film they are about to watch it worthwhile or whether they should pick something else. Before metacritic, Rotten Tomatoes already existed which was another site that rated films for the audiences personal perspective however Marc Doyle, the founder of Metacritics believed that he "saw an opportunity to cover a broader range of media."

'Split' with a green colour code weighing at 74/100. Split is about a man with 23 different personalities abducts 3 teenage girls who are held captive, haunted by their predicament and their unpredictable efforts to escape the hands of a madman. The 3 girls all meet different aspects of the 23 different personalities ranging from a little boy to a sophisticated women - the nightmare truly begins.
This film inspires me to use the certain camera shots and angles to create that haunting affect when it comes to creating my own horror film. The use of the 23 personalities from one person caught my attention and that is good for audiences as it excites them to watch the film and find out more behind the scenes of the trailer.
However, the highest ranked film within the options on the website is 'Under the Shadow' with a ranking of 85/100. Under the Shadow is about a mother and daughter struggling to cope with the terrors of the post-revolution, war-torn Tehran of the 1980s, a mysterious evil begins to haunt their home. Reviews show that people have adapted to this movie well and want to watch it.
